How can we help?

Our Wax & Ingredients

When making our container candles and melts, we use our special secret Paraffin blend of wax which is exceptionally soft and creamy. Our creamy blend of wax has many advantages, one being the amount of fragrance we can add to it—it holds a very high fragrance load which makes for extremely highly scented candles.

Another great advantage is that container candles require a low melting point to burn off the wax and not leave a ring of unburned wax around the inside of the container (known as "wax hang up"). With our soft wax, the scent molecules bind better and are easily released during burning. When you purchase a candle from Candles By Victoria, we guarantee you will get a complete, highly scented burn all the way to the bottom!

There have been several misconceptions floating around regarding paraffin waxes vs. vegetable-based waxes. It is important to realize that both are safe, viable "natural" raw materials with differing chemical compositions, thus offering varied benefits depending on the end user applications.

Paraffin and vegetable-based waxes are derived from similar manufacturing processes where a base oil is refined to obtain a "wax" product. Both exhibit similar physical properties. Both paraffin and vegetable-based waxes have been found to be biodegradable, safe, and highly effective when used in well-designed products.

Yes. According to the requirements of U.S. and European governments, extensive health and safety studies are conducted on fragrance materials. These include toxicological, pharmacology, and skin contact tests. Because of this extensive testing, consumers can feel confident that scented candles are safe when used as directed.

No. A properly burning candle produces water vapor and carbon dioxide, the exact same materials we exhale when we breathe. Furthermore, the fragrances we use in the making of our candles are strictly Phthalate-Free.

Millions of Americans who use scented candles have incredibly positive responses to them. The small handful of consumers who may have a negative response should simply avoid burning candles with that particular scent profile and be sure to use their candles in a well-ventilated area.

Candle Care & Safety

The black you see is carbon. An excessively large flame will produce carbon due to a lack of sufficient oxygen from the air in the jar to provide complete combustion. The key for a perfect burning candle is wick maintenance.

Note: Burning a candle for longer periods of time than recommended can cause a wick to "mushroom" or produce a large black clump on the wick. Always keep your wicks trimmed to 1/4 inch and burn for only the recommended amount of time to prevent this effect.

There are several ways to trim a wick. The most popular ways are with a pair of scissors or nail clippers, but we highly recommend our wick trimmers. Our wick trimmers cut the wicks to the exact length each time and safely catch any wick debris. As a safety precaution, always make sure that all wick trimmings and foreign materials are removed from the jar before lighting.

The best way to blow out a candle is to hold your finger in front of the flame and blow at your finger. The air will flow around your finger and extinguish the candle flame from both sides, preventing hot wax from spattering. To reduce after-burn wick smoldering, continue to blow until the wick glow is completely extinguished.

Never use water, as it can cause the hot wax to spatter and the glass container to break due to the sudden temperature change. Additionally, do not use the jar cover to extinguish the flame, as some lids have plastic filaments which may melt.

Many candle formulas benefit from additional cure time after pouring. If your custom candle arrives freshly poured, letting it rest for several days before its first light can significantly improve the hot throw and burn consistency.

Fragrance & Performance

Our scented candles are formulated for a massive, balanced scent throw that fills your space beautifully. Room size, airflow, and the specific fragrance profile you choose can all influence the perception of the scent.

Burn time depends on the jar size and your burning habits, but our soft wax candles are designed for exceptionally long-lasting performance. For the best results, allow a full melt pool to reach the edges of the jar on your initial burn, and always trim your wick to 1/4 inch before each use.

No. This is a very common misunderstanding. Remember, a candle is a solid, not a liquid (most liquids will lose their fragrance if left uncovered, like perfumes). At Candles By Victoria, we thoroughly mix our fragrances within the wax and continue to agitate it throughout the filling process. This assures that the fragrance is captured deep within the very structure of the candle, waiting to be released.

With mass-produced candles, it's likely that only the top layer of the candle was infused with scent. However, at Candles By Victoria, we blend the entire batch of wax with potent fragrance oils and colorants. This ensures a consistent and enduring fragrance release for the entire duration of the candle's life.

Yes. Select products include wickless formats specifically designed for wax warmers, giving you flame-free fragrance options with the exact same signature CBV scent experience.

Wax Melts

Place 1–2 pieces in your approved wax warmer dish and allow the wax to melt completely. Add or replace the wax as needed based on your desired scent strength and the size of your warmer.

Wax melts provide fragrance without an exposed flame and are ideal for layering scent heavily throughout your home. Candles offer both beautiful glowing ambiance and fragrance in one traditional experience.
